Sustainable Development Goal 5 mandates the achievement of gender equality and grant women to live free from any violence. Indonesia as a developing country in Southeast Asia underpinned the gender equality and women empowerment on the National Medium-Term Development Plan (RPJMN) 2020-2025. Despite the enforcement of Indonesian Law on the Elimination of Domestic Violence (Law No. 23/2004) since 2004 and the presence of official women crisis center in each regency level, crimes against women are still arising. Survey data from the Ministry of Women Empowerment and Child Protection showed the domestic violence increased from 21,028 cases in 2017 to 25,229 cases in 2021. Many previous studies described crimes relates to various socio-demographic issues, regional differences and socioeconomic inequalities. This research found GDP per capita, unemployment rate, poverty are positively correlated with the reporting cases; while demographic density and health places are not correlated with the reporting cases. The study concludes with recommendations for policy implementation to improve coordination and collaboration across sectors and all levels of government and civil society including the religious institutions.
